Competitor assessment and financial modelling for an independent electricity and gas connections business

TriConnex commissioned IPA to undertake a competitor assessment of the independent utility connections market.   TriConnex is a rapidly growing business in the GB electricity, gas and water connections installations market. The main focus of its activities is currently the provision of connections to new housing schemes.

IPA identified main competitors and provided an overview of their key characteristics (e.g. history and evolution, ownership and corporate structures, capabilities. strategy, financial performance, market position and share) as well as undertaking a high level assessment of their enterprise values. As an extension to this work IPA was asked to assess the financial and commercial viability of a new business stream in the utility sector for TriConnex. IPA constructed a financial model which provided insights into CAPEX, OPEX and revenues for a potential new business over the investment horizon.

TriConnex particularly appreciated the objectivity that IPA brought to this project and valued IPA’s business modelling and analysis. The outcome made it possible for TriConnex to clarify its overall business strategy and enabled progress with the proposals for a new venture.
